Driver: San Francisco, GUI implementation

Project summary

Driver: San Francisco is an action driving video game developed by Ubisoft Reflections, and published by Ubisoft. Peg were approached to provide support implementing some of the game's GUI elements.

Aims

We were approached by industry leading games developer Ubisoft Reflections to help implement in-game menus and other GUI elements on their latest AAA title Driver: San Francisco..

Result

Drawing on our experience of Interactive Design and technical implementation of web-based interfaces, we were able to quickly learn the workflow processes, toolchain and middle-ware required, working successfully alongside the studio's GUI team for a significant stretch of the project.

As huge video games fans this was a fantastic opportunity for us to be involved in an exciting industry, to be part of a cutting-edge video game, and to work closely with a world-renowned studio. Being fans of Driver back in the halcyon days of the original PlayStation, we're very proud to have been part of this franchise reboot and look forward to working on more video game projects in the future

Our role

  • Implementing GUI elements
  • Creating functional in-game menus
  • Working with art teams and programmers
  • Providing assistance to other GUI implementers

"Not only did Peg Digital quickly master our unique tool chain, they played a part in training new staff in its use, and provided a valuable and flexible day-to-day service right through until the end of the project."
